Cyprus Forum: Cyprus’ 20 years in the EU

EUROPEUM Institute in cooperation with PRIO Cyprus organized a panel discussion during the Cyprus Forum on the occasion of Cyprus’ 20 years in the EU. It took place on a unique location in the UN Mission Buffer Zone.

The panel was opened by Executive Director of EUROPEUM Institute Martin Vokálek:

“The 2004 EU enlargement brought significant changes to the EU and the new Member States, and in reflecting on this we also analyse what the future of further EU enlargement should be, what are its benefits and costs and what are the costs of no action at all.”

The panelists discussed Cyprus’ accession and the benefits of joining the EU. Taking place in a unique location of the Ledra Palace, in the UN Mission Buffer Zone, the discussion also evoked the EU’s creation as the peace project on European continent.

The organizers would like to thank all the speakers, moderators, and attendees for their active participation, as their contributions greatly enriched the discussions.
